Happy New Year and Happy Crafting

Hello! So will you make to midnight this year? Will you watch the ball drop? I hope so. The last 3 or 4 years I have not made it to midnight. Sadly, I always wind up falling asleep on the couch watching a movie. Last year I let the girls camp out in the living room because they wanted to see the ball drop - they didn't make it either. I did wake up just after midnight and was able to call my parents and wish them a Happy New Year. My goal, this year, is to scrap until midnight in hopes to stay awake. Wish me luck!! lol I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Santa is on his way. Victoria and Emma were tracking Santa on Norad earlier and when the popup came up that Santa's next stop was Canada, Victoria looked at Emma and said, "that is close to us!" Off to bed they went. lol I hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas!

Only 5 More Sleeps

before Christmas arrives! Looking back at my last post, it was titled WOW It's December 2nd; where did the month go? I am so excited for Christmas. I love watching the kids open their gifts and spending time with family. I am done shopping for my girls and their presents are all wrapped - whew! Now to finish the adult family members. This is where I have a minor panic attack. I haven't bought my parents anything yet. I am heading out to shop at 8am before work then back out around 4:30 with my dad. Hopefully I can get all done by Wednesday. I hate wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. I just want to spend the night with Mark and the girls and have a nice dinner and movie night. I hope you all enjoy the last few days before Christmas!

WOW It's December 2nd!

I can't believe Thanksgiving has past and we are already into December. Kelly came to visit for Thanksgiving and is still here. She is staying until Dec. 5. Yay! We have been busy scrapping all week, challenging each other to try new things. Let's just say we haven't slept more than 3 hours each night. Tomorrow Emma will be 8 years old and we will be going to my mom's for dinner and cake. Saturday, we are having her friends over to craft and play, a few of them will be spending the night as well. Check back next week to see some birthday pics and projects I made during my scrapping time with Kelly.

Creative Scrappers 2 Sketches = 2 Layouts

I can't believe today is August 31! The summer has flown by and it is almost time for school. It was a busy summer as I am sure it was for all of you. I did finally find time to scrap. Yay! I was able to make two layouts to go with the Creative Scrappers Sketch challenges. I love their sketches! The first sketch is #116, I did was a picture of Sara and her teacher, Mrs. Blender.

Journaling: If only there were more teachers like Mrs. Blender. She saw the intelligence and confidence inside Sara and brought them to the surface. She pinpointed Sara's learning difficulty in comprehension and took her under her wings. After several tests and meetings with the both of us, she set up a team to help Sara deal with being an IEP student. She taught Sara how to read in between the lines, special ways to take notes and how to test herself. Thanks to Mrs. Blender's dedication$ the help of other teaches. Sara is going to school to be a sonographer and is getting straight A's.
Supplies: BoBunny Block Party papers, journaling card and buttons, Thicker letters

The second Sketch #117 is about our new puppy, Sparkles.

Journaling: You wanted a puppy, we wanted a companion for Max... so we took a ride to Pet Smart on July 22, 2010 and you adopted Sparkles from Save a Life foundation. Even though she is your puppy, we all take part in the taking care of our Sparkles.
Supplies: Leaving Prints pp, MM Ribbon, Flowers gifted from my cousin Kelly, Thicker letters, Around the Block Dog House Pin, SU Brads.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks to the Creative Scrappers Sketch DT for making awesome sketches. I am looking forward to working on more this week. Creative Scrappers

Simply Betty Stamps DT Call and Claudia&Co. Sketch

Hi All! This week I enjoyed playing around with 2 fun and inspiring blog sites! Simply Betty Stamps and Claudia & Co. Simply Betty is having a DT call that ends on Sept 1. You can find all the info HERE The challenge for the call is to make a funny card. I decided to use School Emo Miller. He has this quirky look on his face and I couldn't resist him. My card has Miller next to his homework that is all crinkled and chewed up... I think he is blaming it on his dog. lol You can find Miller and all the other great Simply Betty images at Simply Betty Stamps

Supplies:
Simply Betty Digi Miller, Bazzill Basics Brown Cardstock, SU White, Blue and Yellow Cardstock, DCWV PP, Around The Block Dog Paper Pin, Stazon Brown Ink and atyouSpica Glitter Pens to color Miller.

I used this awesome sketch from Claudia & Co. I just flipped it around to fit my card.

I get so inspired by both blogs. Oodles of talent out there. Thanks for visiting....

Victoria Started Her Own Blog and Posted a Layout

WOW! Three posts in one day.... usually I don't have much too share these days. I am excited to let you all know that my daughter, Victoria has started her own blog. She loves to spend time in my scraproom and create layouts and cards. She has gotten hooked on stamping and using digi art to make her layouts. She entered a challenge over at Simply Betty Stamps for the teen challenge that Rio, Betty's daughter is hosting. I think Rio's monthly challenges will be a great way for Victoria to express her creative sides with some fun inspiration. Please take a minute to go look at her latest SBS layout HERE and leave her some love.

She also created a layout for a challenge at Lollipop Crafts which I am hoping to take a picture and help her upload and link sometime tomorrow. Then I must work on my own layout for this challenge as well.

Simply Betty Stamps Weekly Challenges and DT Call

Simply Betty Stamps will be hosting weekly challenges and is having a DT call until Sept 1. I am sure this will be a lot of fun. SBS has so many great stamps and digis. You can get yours HERE
Simply Betty Challenge Blog will be fun and creative showing a bunch of inspiration.

August Challenge at Scrap Our Stash Challenge Blog

Hello, August challenge at SOS is to make your own flowers. Unfortunately, I was not able to post tutorial pictures but my flowers are easy peasy. My computer has a huge virus and is being repaired at Staples. Anyway, here is my layout titled: Ready To Bloom.

This is a picture of my 10yr old daughter, Victoria. She wasn't in the picture taking mood that day but I decided she still looked beautiful and this picture represents the "mood - ready to bloom" that she has been in for over a year now. kwim?! lol For picture taking purposes I put white paper behind my layout (that is not part of the layout).

My flowers were made using the Stampin' Up Scallop Punch. After punching the scalloped circles, I cut next to each scallop on a slight angle the inked the petals. I added a button to the center and there you go, instant flower. I learned this trick from my SU friend, Stasia Stasia's Stampzone while scrapping at her house one night. Now it's your turn to share your layout with handmade flowers with the rest of us. Do you have a tutorial to go with it? Send it to www.scrappinpsycho@live.com and your layout will be featured on the Scrap Our Stash blog with a chance to win a GDT spot for October.

Winner Winner One Day Late for Dinner

First off, I would like to apologize for being a day late in announcing the winner. My hubby decided to take us to the shore for a couple of days. We had a wonderful time and got to spend yesterday with my cousin and her kids (which my kids loved!) When we left today, my mom decided to stay with her sister and Victoria stayed with my cousins... so it was easy for me to decide who was going to pick the blog hop winner.

The winner was picked out of a hat by the lovely Emma.

SOS Christmas in July Blog Hop and Blog Candy

Welcome to the Scrap Our Stash Christmas in July Blog Hop. If you did not come here from Wendy's Blog then I suggest you start at the beginning of the hop at Scrap Our Stash so you can go back and follow the blog hop in order. This will allow you to discover the secret phrase which will make you eligible for the grand prize. All the details for the grand prize will be posted at the SOS blog. You don't want to miss it. To have a chance to win the grand prize you will have to figure out a secret phrase... Here's a little hint, my secret word in never.

Now on to my project. I have decided to make a chipboard mini tag Christmas album. I love to work on mini albums for a couple reasons; they can be done quite quickly, easy to use one paper pack for simple matching and I can print out wallet size photos to easily display on my album. You wouldn't believe how much I paid for this album... I am almost too embarrassed to tell you. hhmm Ok Ok I paid..... 10 cents. Yes, you heard me correctly. It came with 5 chipboard pages but I added an extra page to make it look nicer. I purchased it at Michaels a couple weeks ago. I thought they were a dollar and when the cashier rang it up she said "yep still 10 cents." I went back and bought 10 more for a total of 20. What a Deal! They make great teacher gifts and birthday presents.

First off, I chose My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter glitter holiday paper pack. I love these papers! After tracing each side of the pages, I proceeded to cut them out. I attached the paper to one side of each tag with Zip Dry glue then sanded the edges for a clean finish. Next, I punched the ring hole with my crop-a-dile so I will then know where to punch when I put the paper on the other side. I finished adhering the paper on the opposite side, sanded the edges and punched the ring hole again. On the cover, I decided to add the sentiment "Merry Christmas." The sentiment and stamped frame are from {Ippity} stamp set Season's of Joy. I used a glue pad and topped it off with green flock. It was the first time I used flock and I loved it. I also used misc ribbon, buttons and embellishments to complete this Christmas mini.

Now for BLOG CANDY! Become a follower of my blog to be entered into a random drawing and for an added chance to win, leave me a comment about your latest mini, include a link if you have one. The winner will receive my Christmas Mini Album and a set of {Ippity} stamps called Faith Blooms. I will post the winner Monday, July 26. I hope you all enjoy the hop! Please visit the very talented AMY and don't forget to collect your secret words along the way for a chance to win the grand prize at Scrap Our Stash.

Scrapping with Your Kids, Simply Betty Stamps, SOS and Layout Share

Do you scrap with your kids? I do! Not all the time but I do let them join in on the fun once in a while. When I have a project due or I am on a time schedule, I don't invite them to scrap with me because I usually have to stop to help Emma, my 7 year old, either cut something, find an embellie or help her glue something down. Victoria, my 10 year old, is much different. She has no problem finding exactly what she needs and gets busy. Last week Emma had a playdate at her girlfriend's house so Victoria and I decided to play with stamps. I have never been a good embosser (still not even after playing with it over an hour that day - lol), so we tried using glitter and flocking with a glue pad. We both enjoyed working with those embellishments and decided that flocking is our new fav.

The other day, I came home to find that Victoria had made 2 layouts using stamps, flocking, coloring and brads. They are cute beginner pages! I am so happy that she is interested in this exciting hobby. She can explore her own way of scrapping over time and grow with it.

The first layout I am sharing is one that she has made using 3 stamps from Simply Betty Stamps from the Emo Kids line (Lola, Rio and London) Simply Betty Stamps is a brand new stamp company and has come out with really creative stamps and digis. The day I received the Emo Girls in the mail, my girls went crazy choosing their favorite. Victoria made this layout of her and her sisters with their favorite Emo Girls to the left of their picture. She chose some Halloween colors, pictures from 2 years ago, bat punch and some stickles to write the work "imagine". I think she did a great job coloring and cutting out the stamped images. She cuts them out better then me. lol You can check out all the awesome stamps and digis with a ton of DT inspiration at http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com/

Here is a quick card that I made using Lola:

The second layout I am sharing is a layout that Victoria has created using brads. This falls in line with the challenge at http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com/ for July. July's challenge is to use brads/eyelets on your creation to have a chance to become a GDT for September. We are also featuring new sketches each month.

This is my take on the sketch where I also used blue eyelets, which was featured on SOS on July 14:

Don't forget to check out my Redo Your Layout Challenge dated June 30. You have until July 31 to enter to win a fun RAK from me.

My Layout Needed a Redo ~ Does Yours?/Prize

Did you ever have a layout that you did really quick for a challenge or a last minute project? Well I did and here is how it turned out. UGLY I tell ya! I don't know what I was thinking when I created this layout. The only challenge was to use 10 of the same item on a layout. The colors don't even match the picture. I picked this picture because I just love it with her eyes closed. Yes, I did get prettier pictures of Emma and will scrap them as well, sometimes you have to scrap what makes you smile. The only thing is, this layout didn't make me smile, it made me miserable. SBO was having a scrap weekend online, so I chose to have a redo challenge since I really needed to redo this layout because I hated it so much. lol

With the help of my cousin, Kelly and her cricut, we came up with this design ~

I love this layout and it truly makes me SMILE! Do you have a layout that needs some extra love, attention or needs to be redone altogether? If so, Redo your layout and put the link to the galley of the before and after pictures in the comment area of this post by midnight July 31 and I will randomly choose a winner for a special prize.

My Frugal Friday Tip for SOS

"I am tired of misplacing my loose buttons. I know I must have plenty of storage spaces, I think too many is the problem. lol I like to see what I have instead of hiding things in drawers and containers. I am very bad at labeling my storage. Each month I throw away a few medicine bottles when I refill hubby's medicine. I thought to myself "what a waste!' I decided to alter these containers to store my buttons in. All I did was find some fun Sassafrass paperscraps to use, ink up the edges with my brown stazon ink and adhere it with glue dots. I also punched out some paper for the top of the containers and on one I added ribbon with glue dots. I want to make 6 total. His medicine comes in all different size bottles so it works out great for me! Do you have any household items that you alter for storage? How about a Frugal Friday Tip? If so, email us at scrappinpsycho@live.msn we would love to put your creation on our blog." http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com/

Victoria Turned 10!

Victoria's favorite color is blue. The inside says "just for you" Happy 10th Birthday. Love Mom and Dad She absolutely loved the card. She doesn't like flowers and pink, nothing too girlie.

Taking my girls to the movies and lunch to celebrate Victoria's 10th birthday! WOW 10 years old already! I hope the sun shines for her today so we can have some bbq for dinner.

The sun peeked out for a little while today. After the movies, we came home and Victoria and Emma played in the yard jumping on the trampoline, playing ball and running around. We had a light bbq for dinner and mom stopped by for a bite.

We just finished watching the Blind Side with Sara. Great Movie. WOW I went to see Letters to Juliet another great movie and Blind Side tonight at home, no action at all and I really enjoyed myself. I usually only like to watch action packed movies. Half way through Letters to Juliet, my mom leaned over and said... If someone doesn't get killed... and we laughed. She likes the same type of movies as I do. All in all I think Victoria had a nice birthday and lots of family time with her sisters.

I just sent everyone to bed. Good night my sweet birthday girl. Hope your 10th was memorable! I love you Victoria!

Sara's Graduation Invites and A layout Scrapped!

Scrap Out Stash is having a fun challenge this month, Think Out of the Box. These are a couple of my creations.

The first is Sara's Graduation invitations... I do make cards, but never invitations. It is so different for me is because I did not ink, sand or distress any part of the card or insert. The only ink on the invite is the stamped graduation cap and the info that I printed from my computer on the insert. This card is very clean cut for me. I do have to admit, I am very happy with the way it turned out. The products that I used are Stampin Up' cardstock, blue writer to color stamp and punch for the pull tab, MM brad, stamp unknown and Tim Holtz new Alterations Movers and Shapers bigz diecut.

The second is an 8 x 8 layout that I did with a picture from Mother's Day 2009. It was Out of the Box because I never scrap the color purple.

Come and join us at www.scrapourstash.blogspot.com for fun challenges each month. Tomorrow we are featuring our first sketch challenge by the very talented DT member Robin.

Happy Mother's Day and Layouts

I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day! My girls came home with a new Bissell Vacuum and a $50 gc for ACMoore. I was so happy! They gave it to me yesterday because Sara had to leave for work early this morning. Taking the girls to play mini golf then dinner when Sara gets home tonight. I woke up to a spotless kitchen & cooked bacon, thanks to my wonderful husband.

As I am typing this, Victoria walks in with Mark and gives me chocolate covered strawberries and pineapple and 2 of my favorite cookies. Now Victoria is using my new vacuum and is taking apart the couch to vacuum it. This day is getting better and better. It takes very little to make me happy. :)

Here are a couple of layouts that I did with pictures from last Mother's Day.

This is a picture of Mom and myself at Gene's benefit over the summer.

I also did a layout of Sara but I can't share that one until it gets posted on http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com as it was a DT project.

Whatever your plans today, make the best of them and hug your children. Happy Mother's Day.
