Christmas in July Hop - Day 4

Welcome to Memories in Tyme Christmas in July blog hop hosted by Lynda!!! After she participated in her first blog hop recently, she knew she needed to host one of her own hops this month so people will start to look at Christmas! Everyone has been working really hard on things this month, and we all hope you enjoy all the fun ideas we are sharing with you!!

If you just happened to stop by my blog, make sure you start at the beginning with Lynda's Blog so you don't miss any holiday projects.

Today is out last day of the hop.  I hope you all enjoyed our projects and got some holiday inspiration.  I am sharing 2 projects with you today.

First Up!  A Simply Betty Stamps Inspired Christmas Tag.  SBS is having a challenge and this month you have to make a tag using brown, cranberry, teal and snow white.  I got as close as I could to the colors.  You still have time to enter the challenge Here. SBS has great digi images and rubber stamps.

My second project got crushed!  I guess I wasn't meant to share my original bag.  First I left my camera in the car then my pup ran across my scrap stuff and the bag got all wrinkled and tore off the handle.  Ugh.  Anyway, I made this cute little bag using the "Slumber Party" cartridge.  I used Christmas paper and a sticker.  This one was super simple, I just might make these to give out holiday treats to my daughter's class this year.
Thank you for hopping along with us the last 4 days.  I will be in a few upcoming hops and hope you will come back to see what I make.

Now for the Blog Candy! This hop is a 4 day hop. Leave a comment for a chance to win a nice giveaway from me. If you comment each day, that will give you 4 chances to win. I will announce the winner on July 27. Please become a follower as I will be in a few hops coming up over the next couple of months, I am sure you will love them all. Thank you for stopping by.... now off to the next talented scrapper Kari.

Christmas in July Hop - Day 3

Welcome to Memories in Tyme Christmas in July blog hop hosted by Lynda!!! After she participated in her first blog hop recently, she knew she needed to host one of her own hops this month so people will start to look at Christmas! Everyone has been working really hard on things this month, and we all hope you enjoy all the fun ideas we are sharing with you!!

If you just happened to stop by my blog, make sure you start at the beginning with Lynda's Blog so you don't miss any holiday projects.

I couldn't resist sharing this picture with you.  I have had this saved on my computer  forever.  I love the beach and Santa! - Try and keep cool, just like the big guy!

Unfortunately, I left my camera in my mom's car today.  I had to work at a pool and my daughter and mom came with me.  My daughter was looking at the pictures I took and she left it in the back seat of the car.  Since I can't share the mini bag I made for today's post, I am sharing a couple things I made 2 years ago for teacher gifts.  The first is a Yankee Candle that I altered using Zip Dry glue, black cardstock, snowflake paper and buttons that I tied with thread then added some stickles to embellish them.
Second are holiday jars.  (This is something you can do for any occasion) I save jars all year long - love to recycle and alter things around the house.  I used Zip Dry glue to adhere the pattern paper to the jars and lids.  I made tags for my girls to sign and tied them on with fibers.  I then filled them up with a mixture of Hershey Kisses.  Fun and simple gifts to make just to let someone know you care.
I laugh when I look at this card, "warm wishes"!  If it gets any warmer, I'm going to melt.  I can't remember which paper this is.  I don't think it is the same company.  I share paper stacks with my cousin and the person who purchases the stack, keeps the binding.  I never wrote the names on a lot of the paper.... shame on me.  I did use my Stampin' Up border punch and tag punch.  I hope you are enjoying the hop so far.

Christmas In July Hop - Day 1

Welcome Memories in Tyme Christmas in July blog hop hosted by Lynda!!! After she participated in her first blog hop recently, she knew she needed to host one of her own hops this month so people will start to look at Christmas! The economy is hard right now, what better way to save money by making wonderful things for your friends and family instead of spending a ton of money you don’t have! Plus if you spend a bit of time and money each month, things will not be so hard at the end! Everyone has been working really hard on things this month, and we all hope you enjoy all the fun ideas we are sharing with you!!

If you just happened to stop by my blog, make sure you start at the beginning with  Lynda's Blog so you don't miss any holiday projects.

Now on to my project. I have decided to make a chipboard mini tag Christmas album. I love to work on mini albums for a couple reasons; they can be done quite quickly, easy to use one paper pack for simple matching and I can print out wallet size photos to easily display on my album. You wouldn't believe how much I paid for this album... I am almost too embarrassed to tell you. hhmm Ok Ok I paid..... 10 cents. Yes, you heard me correctly. It came with 5 chipboard pages but I added an extra page to make it look nicer. I purchased it at Michaels a while ago. I thought they were a dollar and when the cashier rang it up she said "yep still 10 cents." I went back and bought 10 more for a total of 20. What a Deal! They make great teacher gifts and birthday presents.

First off, I chose My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter glitter holiday paper pack. I love these papers! After tracing each side of the pages, I proceeded to cut them out. I attached the paper to one side of each tag with Zip Dry glue then sanded the edges for a clean finish. Next, I punched the ring hole with my crop-a-dile so I will then know where to punch when I put the paper on the other side. I finished adhering the paper on the opposite side, sanded the edges and punched the ring hole again. On the cover, I decided to add the sentiment "Merry Christmas." The sentiment and stamped frame are from {Ippity} stamp set Season's of Joy. I used a glue pad and topped it off with geen flock. It was the first time I used flock and I loved it. I also used misc ribbon, buttons and embellishments to complete this Christmas mini.

Scrappin' Chics July Challenge

Happy July!  July's challenge at Scrappin' Chics is to scrap/alter something with "Your Favorite Song."  I am sharing a layout that I did a while back.  It means a lot to me.  Unfortunately, I was never able to meet my father-in-law as he passed away a year before I met my husband.    Over the years, I have enjoyed hearing the stories about Mark's dad from him and his mom.  One of Mark's favorite songs is "A Candle in the Wind" by Elton John.  Mark is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, which this song is actually about. Ok, enough said.... time to see the layout (remember, this is from my old scrapping days)....

Click on the image to make it larger to read the journaling!

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you can take time to visit the Scrappin' Chics and see all the awesome projects they are sharing this week.  Make sure to link up your project as well for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate from Stampin' Up and my good friend, Stasia Sloma, who is the sponsor this month.  You can see all her cards, layouts and information Here.

Scrappin' Chics June Challenge - #3

Today is the final reveal for June's Challenge at Scrappin' Chics Challenge Blog.  We have so many great projects for you to check out.  The theme this month is to scrap something with the sun and an inspirational saying.  I got this quote online. This picture was taken in 2009 at Lakeport, NY where my cousin lived (only 3 houses off the lake).  We spent many hours hanging out there day and night.

The inspiration for my flowers came from Lain and her blog A Layout a Day.  Click Here to read about her 3D flower post.  I took her advice and stamped my {Ippity} flowers onto pattern paper and layered them with pop up dots.  I am very happy with the way they turned out.

Please take time to visit the DT and GDT blogs as well.  You have 5 days left to submit your project to Scrappin' Chics.  I am looking forward to seeing what you all create.  If you like what you see, please follow my blog and leave me a comment.  I love reading what you write!  Talk to you soon.

Thank You To Our Teachers Hop Day 3

If you are looking for the Royal Purple Freedom Hop, please click HERE.

Welcome to the Thank You To Our Teachers Blog Hop! Today is the last day of the hop.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  If you have arrived here from Jen's Blog then you are on the right track. If you just happened to stop by my blog for a visit and want to hop along with us, start from the beginning with Memories with Jen. This is a week long hop and we will be posting on 3 separate days. (June 5th, 8th and 11th) Please make sure you hop on those days or throughout the week to see all the wonderful inspiration on what to make our teachers for thank you gifts.

I made these nesting boxes for a second grade teacher that my girls just love.  Victoria had her a couple years ago and Emma hopes to have her next year.  Even though she doesn't teach either of my girls, they asked me to make her a gift.  She has only been in the school for a three years now but she is really good at her job and cares for the kids very much

For my final project, I would like to share a clipboard I made for myself.  As I am a teacher of life to my children.  lol  These pictures are from last year's first day of school... 2009.  This was my oldest daughter's senior year.  Each of my girls dressed in different rooms at different times in the morning and when I looked at them all together, I realized they totally matched.  It was so funny because we did not plan it!

I would like to thank all the talented ladies who took the time to create such wonderful projects for our hop.  It means so much to me that you joined Jen and I in this special hop.  I really think teachers do deserve nice presents at the end of the year for all of their hard work.  I hope you were inspired and maybe learned something new from a project or two.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Don't forget, I will be giving away 3 blog candies, one for each post of the hop. I will pick the winners on June 12, one winner from the comments from each post day. Please leave a way for me to reach you.  Make sure to hop on over to Kim and Pamela's fabulous blog: http://www.lovebugcreations3.blogspot.com/ next.

Royal Purple Freedom Hop

Welcome to the Royal Purple Freedom Hop!  If you have arrived here from Talented Amanda  then you are on the right track.  If you just happened to stop by to visit my blog and would like to hop along with us, please start with  Faith who is the person who put this wonderful hop together.  Make sure to start from the beginning with Faith to see all the blog candy being given away. I am so honored to be a part of this amazing and thoughtful hop.  Please read below for the reason Faith started this hop.  If you make a card, you will be entered into a major prize drawing.  All the info is below.

About 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes occur every year while many more assaults and rapes go unreported entirely. Over 3 million children witness violence in their home each year and those who see and hear violence in the home suffer physically and emotionally. These statistics are sad and overwhelming, but help IS out there for those that choose to break the silence.

Together we can make a difference! Help us instill some hope where very little probably exists and give 24 families a chance at recovery when we are able to donate 1k dollars to the Bradley Angle House. Your purple themed card(s) with a hope filled message inside could make all the difference, not to mention give YOU a chance to win the grand prize for this hop...what is it you ask?   A prize basket valued at more than $100. The blog participants (the ones who created for the hop) will not be entered into the drawing.  This Prize Basket is for all of you who send in a card for a great cause.

Want more chances to win the grand prize?  Additional entries will be given for each $1 donation you include with your card. Would you prefer 1 entry, 10 entries, or 100 entries  is more of what you had in mind? It's all up to you! Cards must be postmarked by June 30th for inclusion in basket drawings and can be mailed to the following address:

Royal Purple Hop
c/o Vicki Smith
P.O. Box 1496
Millbrook, NY 12545

I made 4 cards to send to the families who may need a little note of hope.  I hope that my cards will make them smile, even if it's just for a few minutes.

I have donated cards and money towards the cause to help these families in need, so I will not be offering blog candy for this hop.  I hope you understand. but....

(You still have until June 12 to win blog candy.  I am offering a prize for each day of the hop.  All you have to do is comment on my Thank You To Our Teachers Blog Hop Posts dated June 5th, 8th and 11th)

If you would like to see my projects from day one, click Here.

Today I have decided to share 2 different types of clipboards.  The first one is all school theme that I made for one of Victoria's teachers, Mrs. DePalma three years ago.  Even though I did it a while ago, I thought it was appropriate to share today.  When you see the next clipboard, you will see how my scrapping has changed over time.  Big Difference!  lol

The second clipboard is not a traditional school theme in my eyes.  I wanted to due something fun and colorful in a different way.  I hope the teacher will be able to use this in her classroom or at home with her family.  I love the summer colors.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I love comments and new followers.  Thank you to all my current followers for coming back and reading my posts.  I will be giving away 3 blog candies, one for each post of the hop.
