Scrappin' Chics July Challenge

Happy July!  July's challenge at Scrappin' Chics is to scrap/alter something with "Your Favorite Song."  I am sharing a layout that I did a while back.  It means a lot to me.  Unfortunately, I was never able to meet my father-in-law as he passed away a year before I met my husband.    Over the years, I have enjoyed hearing the stories about Mark's dad from him and his mom.  One of Mark's favorite songs is "A Candle in the Wind" by Elton John.  Mark is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, which this song is actually about. Ok, enough said.... time to see the layout (remember, this is from my old scrapping days)....

Click on the image to make it larger to read the journaling!

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you can take time to visit the Scrappin' Chics and see all the awesome projects they are sharing this week.  Make sure to link up your project as well for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate from Stampin' Up and my good friend, Stasia Sloma, who is the sponsor this month.  You can see all her cards, layouts and information Here.

Scrappin' Chics June Challenge

Hello Ladies. Can you believe it is June 1st already!?!  Today kicks off our June challenge at Scrappin' Chics Challenge Blog .  Our theme this month is to use the sun with an inspirational theme.

I altered a wood sun that I purchased at  Say It with Letters.  You have to stop by this store.  Deb makes top quality products and has an awesome Design Team to share ideas with you.  Trust me, you won't be disappointed.  Deb and Say It with Letters will be sponsoring our October Challenge!

The inspirational saying was written by my nephew who passed away a year ago, March.  He loved writing.  "A wise person is not judged by the amount of knowledge they possess but is judged by the knowledge they spread to uplift others."  Daryl Lynwood Day

I will be mailing this to my cousin Kelly to hang in her studio.  (even though Daryl is actually my 2nd cousin, he called me Aunt Kim).  I miss him so much and he will be in my heart forever.  He gave the best hugs!!
